Ahmadinejad is having trouble with his women

It seems Ahmadinejad is having trouble getting his three female nominees for ministerial posts approved by parliament. Which is a sad reflection on today's Iran. He's also going to have trouble with his nominee for oil minister, who is one of his cronies.

The other controversial figure in Ahmadinejad's proposed cabinet is the former deputy defence minister whom Ahmadinejad proposes to make Defence Minister. This is a creepy guy indicted in Argentina for the mass murder of 85 people in the synagogue bombing. Really nasty.

Ahmadinejad's VP pick walks away

The only nice guy on Ahmadinejad's team has quit. Pathetic really.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's choice as first vice president, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie, has walked away from the job.

Election Fever

Elections, Economics and Ahmadinejad

Numerous questions remain concerning who will and will not stand in next the Iranian presidential elections in June 2009. The players seem reluctant to show their moves too early, in fear of losing face. However, it seems one key player is being given a possible way out. Ahmadinejad, who is facing increasingly hostile criticism for the way he has handled the Iranian economy and foreign policy, is thought to be suffering from ill health. As his supporters fall away, the once rarely challenged assumption that Ahmadinejad would win a second term as president is collapsing. The announcement about his ill-health comes as doubts are raised as to whether Ahmadinejad will even stand for re-election.
