'Cordial' and crucial

The US and Iran held face-to-face talks yesterday, the first such formal discourse since the hostage crisis in 1980. The Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri Al-Maliki, hosted the meeting which was described as 'positive' by both the 'Axis of Evil' and 'Great Satan': Iran's nuclear program was not discussed. The US accused Iran of transporting road-side bombs to Iraq which have led to the deaths of many coalition troops. Iran has suggested a three-way system comprising of Iraq, Iran and the US, to coordinate security in the state (All Newspapers). Five Iranian officials detained by the US have been accused of supplying insurgents with money, training and weapons. Iran vehemently denies the accusation (The Telegraph).
